Day 32 - a Year by the Sea

Brick birds? A flock of brick pelicans? Yes, this is a relief design made of brick on the side of a building, a biology laboratory in fact. The connection between the brick (heavy) and the image of a pelican (a heavy bird) is a delight to consider. Pelicans are close to the limit for a bird being able to fly. They are ungainly in flight and certainly never approach the goofy artistry of gulls. Gulls who in mid-flight will stretch out a foot and scratch themselves with that webbed appendage and then soar up and play in an updraft off a sea wall. Pelicans lumber about until they spot a fish, at which point they dive (fall) like a brick into the water to catch a meal. Bricks and pelicans seem like a great match.
Ciao!
