Day 36 - a Year by the Sea

From the outside, a stand of reeds looks to be a huge sea of sameness. Reeds stretch 10 and 12 feet into the air and grow tightly together. Pass into the stand and then these sudden vistas open up. Here a nesting box leans above an ice pond which I cannot even see from my hillside window overlooking the marsh. The reeds block the skyline and it is impossible to see anything but foxtails. There is no other horizon. This is another place and time. The reeds chatter to each other as the wind pushes and shoves. There is no need to join a yoga class when peace can drop upon you so completely in such pocket of here and now.
