Day 37 - a Year by the Sea
February 6, 2007 by OrientSee.
This is what it means to be in the reeds. These are not fragile grass stalks. This is more like bamboo. The reeds clunk and thwonk against each other making sound as the wind moves. They don’t bend out of the way just because a human is passing by. They resist and it is serious work to move through the stand. Occasionally a broken stalk will spear a calf or ankle and it hurts. In a new season, this is very green world but now it is golden and topped with the foxtail seed plumes tossed in the breeze like an army of pennants.
Ciao!
