Day 48 - a Year by the Sea
February 17, 2007 by OrientSee.
This is a sort of calcium carbonate butterfly. A seagull has already dined on this sea clam and left a dirty plate. Each half is the size of my hand. Sea clams are huge muscle machines and the end result is inedible even after hours of stewing unless of course you’re a gull. I have heard that sea clam meat can be tenderized after much application of a ball peen hammer but it can’t be worth the effort. The shell on the other hand is a delight to every child and me. I suspect that in a pinch, you could use the shell as a sort of knife edge if you weren’t too fussy. I may try using them for a garden path.
Ciao!
