Day 54 - a Year by the Sea

I like to watch the moon during the day. No one seems to pay attention but yet there it is. Just as beautiful as it is in the middle of the night. I never noticed birds very much until one day, I saw some kind of bird with long legs wading in the marsh. It was white and quite striking. It couldn’t be an egret since this was East Boston and not Florida but I went and looked it up in a bird guide. It was a snowy egret and then I began to look around more. Seeing what’s there means being mindful. William James and the Buddha both agree that being mindful leads to right actions. I’ll not preach but being mindful does mean seeing beauty where you never saw it before. That makes my day.
