Day 65 - a Year by the Sea
March 6, 2007 by OrientSee.
There was movement everywhere in the marsh today. A thirty mile an hour northwesterly from the Arctic was blowing through the reeds. The wind noise drowned out even the jets. The cold had all the birds huddled down and out of sight except for the geese. They earned my respect today for flying about as if nothing was different from usual. I was following the advice to wear your own house when going out in this kind of cold. I had three layers on beneath my coat and my head was protected with a woolen balaclava, a hard hat helmet liner and a hood. I felt encased but protected. I had a roof, walls and a foundation. So I actually enjoyed the cold and the breeze.
Ciao!
