Day 68 - a Year by the Sea
March 9, 2007 by OrientSee.
Not an egg. At first that I had found a rare artifact of some huge bird but that didn’t make sense till I walked around it and saw the foam end. It’s a fishing float from some sort of net. There’s all sorts of things washed up into the marsh by the tides and storms. The best part of today happened shortly after this find. I was wandering in a sumac thicket when a Lufthansa 747 passed overhead. Of course, I looked up and watched. Just as it passed, an owl, disturbed by the 747, wheeled over not 8 or 10 feet above my head. Totally unexpected, I stood there rooted to the spot frozen in delight. A real zen moment.
Ciao!
