Day 71 - a Year by the Sea

Often ordinary things appear to be something else. An empty trash bag snagged by a bush can look like a skunk when the wind is blowing at night under a streetlight. Winter trees can look wraithlike beneath the moon. An old weathered stick can arrest your eye and for a moment, you’re seeing a bird. It’s strange because in this case nothing was moving but my eyes caught the shape and stuck till my brain figured it out. This is from the site of an old WWII radio installation in the Revere section of Belle Isle Marsh. The barren quality of the riprap rock isolates shapes. There is no new vibrant plant growth, at least not yet, so the stick form stands out and I was looking for birds.  In any case, my eyes tripped on this sight and I’m glad to have caught it.

Ciao!
