Day 79 - a Year by the Sea
This is a killdeer. They feed in just this habitat, seashore and marsh. It was high tide and this was the first time that I had a chance to get out since Saturday. I’ve got some sort of chest/head crud that involves wet stuff and coughing. There’s also fever and chills as well. Basically, it is a case of the FeelBads. I took this little walk hoping to see some of the big showboats that are bound for here soon. Herons, egrets, ibis and the whole crew of crowd pleasers. No luck yet. As I settled in to watch, a downy woodpecker started in pecking just above and behind my head not more than six feet away. Of course, he wouldn’t sit still for the camera. Then as boredom (nothing much to look at) set in, the killdeer set down in front of me about 60 feet away. I’ll settle for watching a bird like this as they hunt. The yucks came on and I had to walk back home and rest up. I’ll be glad to shake this off. Tomorrow has got to be better.
Ciao!
