Day 82 - a Year by the Sea
March 23, 2007 by OrientSee.
The high ground surrounding the marsh is a battleground filled with failures. Fast growing invasive species try hardest and do well for a while and then inevitably the wet salty ground poisons the growth and the plants grow weak and are knocked down by the wind and snow. Piles of this dead wood build up and look very eery. There is probably all sorts of small animal and insect life down in the middle of these piles but the unsettling appearance makes me feel like I’m visiting a cemetery. Life is tough on the edges.
