Day 98 - a Year by the Sea
April 8, 2007 by OrientSee.
It seems unlikely this floated in from a tropic isle but this is a coconut. Most likely, some one tossed it here by the side of the marsh like so much else littering the edges. I was surprised to find this rather than an empty bottle of coconut rum. Strange things do turn up in the marsh. Broken supermarket carriages, lifeguard towers, twisted lumps of metal, plastic bags and on and on. I often find myself looking more at the trash than the wildlife. It’s just as varied and the stories that they conjure up fill many an idle moment. It’s also how I started paying attention to tracks in the mud. Looking down can lead to many a surprise.
Ciao!
