Day 103 - a Year by the Sea
April 13, 2007 by OrientSee.
The promise of bloom. Our magnolia tree is ready. Some years this can take days. Other years after a few hot days, the blooms can peak and wither away. The magnolia bloom is like most things, never certain and often gone before we can appreciate it. Then there is a magic day when all the petals fall. The shower is glorious. I envy southerners this. They have magnolias and need never fear winter. Our winters are often fierce and in the woods on a January day, you can hear the shot and crack of the trees as cold and ice burst trunks. Our magnolia is a survivor. These flowers mean that we’ve made it through another winter.
Ciao!
