Day 121 - a Year by the Sea

This red and pink bloomed branch was my eye’s delight today. There are other flowering trees in the marsh but they are uniformly white. This was a real standout. I finally realized that mid-day is not the best time to experience the marsh. All the inhabitants are snoozing. One great blue heron was all hunched down and I first thought I was looking at another plastic bag. The heron was just sitting there like a moody adolescent. Nothing was really moving around. Flash of insight strikes the naive city boy. Just maybe, I need to be up and at this earlier in the day. I didn’t see the ospreys and that was a disappointment since they seem like neighbors now. The flying insect crew is active and so are the tree swallows. The bad news is that the ticks and mosquitoes cannot be far behind. There is always a payment due when you’re having too good a time. Karma rules.
