Day 168 - a Year by the Sea
June 17, 2007 by OrientSee.
A jade pearl of delight. A gift. I had a walk today with this Great Egret (he kept his distance). A Kildeer demonstrated what parental love is. As I walked along the bird faked a broken wing and loudly called its distress. All to distract me and keep me from coming too close to a nest. An Osprey hovered overhead as I listened to the sound of running water. All this in a jade pearl. This pearl is a small enclosed area of the marsh. Surrounded by berms with only one inlet and one outlet, it fills and empties as the tide moves. The result is two very small waterfalls and soft liquid sound. It was a gift of quiet, a sort of outdoor meditation. I am very grateful for this. I want to thank the neighbor who on his own maintains the path. He is a true gentle man to share this place with us. Thank you.
Ciao!
