Day 171 - a Year by the Sea

elderberries.jpg

Elderberries. All through the edge land are plenty of elderberry trees. I find the berries sweet and the juice is a vivid color that makes a great natural dye. The birds don’t seem to flock to the berries. Some are eaten but most are ignored. Of course, now I find out that elderberries are mildly poisonous unless cooked or fermented. That put an end to my snacking. Wildlife can eat them but are not their first choice. I do these things that only a three year old will try and then survive through sheer good luck. I am thankful that there is no existing video of my one and only attempt at snowboarding. It’s no wonder that I didn’t get my hip replaced years ago.

Ciao!
