Day 187 - a Year by the Sea

The pheasant has been quiet for over a month now. Usually he has been the loudest thing in the marsh except for the planes. So I have neither heard him or seen him in a while. Today with a thunderstorm off to the north and a sky full of bright clouds, he jumps out of a reed stand and once again startles me. This time though, I manage to swing the camera up fast enough to catch him as he flies off. Even from this angle, he is quite a sight. I simply cannot imagine hunting a bird so beautiful. This pheasant has become a sort of buddy and you don’t shoot your friends.
