Day 194 - a Year by the Sea

Not pretty. By the front entrance to the park, there were two small fires a week and a half ago. Since everything is green, they were probably started by some one. Now the phragmites is coming back with a vengeance. Since it depends on underground rhizomes, the surface fire doesn’t really bother it. The fire was never hot enough to heat the ground by much. So the reeds are poking back up with a speed that leaves me deeply surprised. I knew that they would bounce back but this fast is amazing. It’s testimony to the life force in simple plants.
