Day 196 - a Year by the Sea

Looking down or up or just looking means that I see more. This is just goldenrod, the scourge of allergy sufferers. Then again it’s a still life and a sort of statement about living with the ordinary. Ordinary is an excuse for not looking closer. Look at these weeds. There’s a visual music at work here. Elsewhere,there was a lot of rich ordinary in my walk today. In the parking lot at Belle Isle, among the parked cars was old blue car with one window open and a man playing a trumpet. An ordinary parking lot but one with music and the makings of a great short story. In the creek a snowy egret was leaping about feeding in the shallows. A mockingbird was preening his feathers and then stopped to watch me watch him. An ordinary day that I didn’t miss.
