Day 198 - a Year by the Sea
July 17, 2007 by OrientSee.
The big bird of the marsh. I stepped up to the top of the rubble that overlooks the muskrat pond. Before I could register its presence, it took off. I caught this image as it cleared the reeds. I’ve never been this close before to a Great Blue Heron. It’s like being underneath a 747 as it roars by. There isn’t any noise but the sense of regal size is overwhelming. It’s humbling to watch a bird that is almost as tall as I am. Humbling but very joyful.
Ciao!
