Day 199 - a Year by the Sea

Walking home from the marsh, I had a chance visit with this Goldfinch. I can’t imagine that he was feeding from the thistle. That would be like eating a pine 2×4. Besides that asphalt is the sidewalk on Bennington St. where no one can hear “lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore.” Actually it is that sort of peace that you can find in the middle of the marsh if the airport is landing in another direction. William Butler Yeats wrote “The Lake Isle of Innisfree” about all of this. Take a read of it. (http://www.bartleby.com/103/44.html) Most of all come out to the marsh and listen.

Ciao!
