Day 200 - a Year by the Sea

color_leaf.jpg

Foghorns. That has little to do with these sumac leaves which shout out color or maybe not. We had a foggy day and so the underlying beat was foghorns. Although we live close to the sea, the foghorns aren’t all that common. Chelsea Creek is a major oil transfer point dotted with large oil tanks and that’s where the sound was coming from. Ships are always downloading to the tank farms. While the horns are never as annoying as the plane traffic, they are a real physical presence. The sound actually touches you with its deep basso profundo. Back to the leaves, the colors here have the same effect. It’s a physical thump that grabs your attention. Color can be a punch in the belly and these leaves did that to me today.

Ciao!
