Day 215 - a Year by the Sea
August 3, 2007 by OrientSee.
Ok, it’s a spider web. Nice picture and then I started thinking about it. I’ve been watching entirely too much Discovery Channel but recently I watched a survival expert set a snare. He chose a path that ptarmigan would walk down and literally put their heads into the noose. Apparently it worked because he had roast ptarmigan for dinner that night. This spider set up his web between two reeds across a path used not only by me and the coyotes but also all kinds of wildlife including insects. It wasn’t a random choice but a rather a clever stratagem. That nothing was caught by the time I came by was just bad luck for the spider. I did walk around it. So I hoped that he had success later on.
Ciao!
