Day 231 - a Year by the Sea

It’s a sort of haiku.

Gold bird eating thistle.
Small sunset on a dead leaf.

That’s not very good poetry but the moments that arrive unexpectedly out in the marsh are like that kind of Japanese verse. Concise, clear and sharp with the vision of a here and now. Whether it’s a bird bursting out of cover right next to you or a cloud of starlings whirling about, there’s an immediacy to walking out there in the marsh that you’ll never find in a car commuting to work. It’s why I still wander around out there.
