Day 245 - a Year by the Sea

Fish. These are one of the main attractions at Belle Isle Marsh. These little fingerlings may not be fine food for you and me but for most of the animals that live out in the marsh, these little fish are great. The marsh is incredibly productive with grasses and other plants. It is also the spawning grounds of all kinds of fish which are harder to photograph. The guys who fish off the Saratoga St. bridge, the night time smelt fishermen, the egrets and all the larger fish feed off these humble sources of protein directly or indirectly. They are all connected to these small almost translucent fish. The marsh has many connections to the world around it.

Ciao!
