Day 248 - a Year by the Sea
September 6, 2007 by OrientSee.
The long dry spell has been working on the plant life. Although fall is approaching, the trees usually hold onto their leaves much longer than this. The lack of rain is causing many trees to lose the leaves in order to cut back on the loss of water. Leaves are where the water evaporates. No leaves - less evaporation and water loss. This close to the season’s change it makes sense to take your lumps and get ready for the cold weather. The leaves were going soon anyway. What’s left is a bit of rich vibrant color that any painter might envy.
Ciao!
