Day 249 - a Year by the Sea
September 7, 2007 by OrientSee.
Fifty yards away from a Great Egret poking around in the creek were these small sandpipers. Their table was set and so they were having a hearty lunch. These small birds are often referred to as peeps. Usually they do not tolerate observers very well but today they were not bashful. Often you can find any number of them in the creek at low tide. Soon they’ll be gone completely as few of them will spend the winter with us. It won’t be lonely very long for the overwintering ducks will soon be back. It does seem that change is the only constant.
Ciao!
