Day 250 - a Year by the Sea

thunderhead.jpg

This is a classic cumulonimbus cloud, CB or thunderhead. We need rain and I’m hoping that one of these will move a bit more to the south and dump a lot of rain on us. It’s late afternoon and the westward moving sun is catching the cloud top and touching it with a bit of gold. Thunderstorms are grand spectacles and when my kids were little, we used to sit on the back porch during storms just to see and hear the show. A big storm is an amazing engine of powerful wind, rain and lightning. It deserves respect but it is also a thing of beauty and often a bringer of rainbows. Plains people have a different attitude because their storms are so overwhelmingly powerful that fearful respect is the only appropriate feeling. It’s the same for me with hurricanes. I am just hoping for some rain and a little bit of a show.

Ciao!
