January 12
January 12, 2008 by OrientSee.
Just another day in the marsh. As usual I was wearing rubber boots and carrying binoculars, a camera and a spotting scope. I met this guy who started asking me about what I’d seen today. I told him that there was nothing special. Just a few red-tail hawks and a downy woodpecker. Then I realized that what I had seen was pigeons, house sparrows, starlings, gulls, mockingbird, crows, mergansers, Canada geese, black ducks and buffleheads as well. I’d seen a bright sunny day with the marsh grass filled with color and a great sky filled with clouds. In short, I’d just seen a beautiful day and was suffering from not appreciating it. I’d gotten a little jaded. You can meet people out in the marsh who will barely react to the sight of Great Blue Heron or a Snowy Egret. They’ve seen it all before. Well, I hope that I don’t turn into one of them. The marsh is a gift to enjoy.
The power supply on my computer burned out and it took me a few days to fix it. That’s why I haven’t been posting as regularly.
Ciao!
